I've been SUPER busy over the last week or so, so I apologize for slacking on blog posts. I'm going to hold off on more Germany pictures for a bit and instead give a quick update on what I've been up to lately! Work has been a madhouse due to the coolant loop failure and an excess of work that needs to be done before the holidays. At least the time goes buy quickly. Last weekend S and I flew to New York and met up with the extended family from my mom's side for my cousin D's wedding. I'd never been to NYC in December before, so I really enjoyed seeing all of the department store displays, decorations in Rockefeller Plaza, and general holiday buzz in the city. S had never been to NYC at all before, so we were sure to hit up the "classic" NY spots, including a Jewish deli, Macy's, Times Square, Rockefeller Plaza, Sak's shoe department, the 9/11 Memorial, and of course some NY style pizza! And it snowed on Saturday to add to the general holiday feel as well - S's first time in real-life snow (ski snow is the only other time he's been in it, which is a totally different feel).
And of course we were there for the big wedding of D and S, which was just absolutely beautiful. It was so wonderful to see all of my family and I'm thrilled to bits that S is our newest addition!
We got back on Sunday and then last night we hopped in the car for yet another trip. This one was much quicker, but I was totally psyched and geeking out about it - we went to see Neil deGrasse Tyson speak in Austin!!! I love listening to his speeches (I've posted them on the blog here, here, here, here and here) and to see him in person was truly awesome. He ended his speech with my favorite quote ever by Carl Sagan, which naturally I silently mouthed along with him - loved it! Afterwards we waited in line to get one of his books signed and I got to talk to him for a whole 30 seconds. I was so awkward, but it was incredible none-the-less!
So now it's back to the grind and the super busy work schedule. I've got a lot of off shift and holiday work coming up before I get my big holiday break, so I don't know if I'll have much time to post, but I'll do my best!
